In The Beginning...

Hello, this is Kyle.

For those of you who do not know me, I grew up in a Christian home. I spent my high-school and college days at some of the most well know "Fundamentalist" schools in the country and have often attended churches that are known to be Independent Fundamentalist Baptist. One thing that has always struck me, and ultimately one of the things that inspired me to write this blog, is what different individuals consider "fundamental" to the Christian religion. It seemed to me that things considered to be "fundamental" by some are not considered "fundamental" by others.

In surgery a Thoracotomy is a procedure whereby the thorax, or chest, is opened in order to access the organs inside. This procedure is necessary in a number of operations including the resection of lung cancer or surgery on the heart. I have titled this blog "Fundamental Thoracotomy" because my intent is to dissect into the fundamentals in order to determine what is vital to Christianity.

This is meant to be an opportunity of learning for me and also an opportunity for open discussion. I am by no means a trained Theologian and I do not pretend to have all the answers. Having said this, I appreciate all input (with one stipulation) if you disagree with me I only ask that you have a supported reason.

I am truly excited about this and I hope that we all can benefit and ultimately learn how to better glorify our Creator.

I hope to update this every Saturday, third year of med school willing...

Any suggestions as to what I should start with?
